Sharon had been yanked out of major crimes and straight into intelligence. She had a couple of theories and one really got to her. Hank wanted his daughter where he could see her and keep an eye on her. What was she three? "Cosa di esso?"1 she stated as she slammed the desk drawer. Yeah that was probably a really bad idea. Now it was stuck. "Così mi aiuti"2 she grumbled under her breathe. Her Italian sounded more of a native tongue than a second language. This was all a mistake. One thing Sharon didn't do well with was men, secondly... she didn't know this guy. At least she had sort of known Danny. Danny was technically her stepmother's brother. Though she had a feeling since the day in the park and the kidnapping that Danny was probably not on the decent side of her dad. Hence why she was here, in eyesight of her dad's desk. The only thing between the office was an open door and some glass and maybe a few desks. Nope this was a terrible idea. Finally sitting down with paperwork she ran a hand through her hair. Miss not so poker face was clearly in some sort of not pleasant mood. Sharon was a tenacious one, one who did things before she thought about them. It got her in a lot of trouble, but she always seemed to do them for the right reasons. She wasn't one of those picture frame people at least not always. Though the one ppicture frame she owned sat on her desk at work. It was her, Erin, and her dad. Really it was the first time Sharon had felt like she belonged somewhere, but honestly she got enough visits from dad to her his apartment. That was the fun part about not really existing... her apartment really belonged to her dad. 1. What of it? 2. So help me MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Hank had mentioned a new detective would be joining the team, though Voight hadn't volunteered any additional details, nor had Braden asked. All he'd gotten was the name of his partner. Sharon Voight. Something that had caused a raised eyebrow. He could put two and two together just fine.
But ever since Sharon had arrived upstairs, she didn't seem to be particularly pleased with this new arrangement—or maybe it had something to do with him. He'd tried to give her space to vent about whatever was bothering her, but that didn't seem to work. He'd didn't speak whatever language she'd slipped into—French or Italian, maybe—but he knew what frustration sounded like. That and the fact she was slamming desk drawers.
He set his pen down with a small sigh, pushing his paperwork off to the side of his desk. He hadn't meant to offend her, if he'd done something wrong. Would she bite his head off, if he talked to her? "I have to ask. Do you have a problem with me, Detective? Did I do something wrong?" It was hard to imagine what, but if the two of them were going to be partnered together, the status quo wasn't going to cut it. "Should I have gotten you a desk warming gift?" Sharon "Cher" Voight

Sharon looked in the direction of her partner when he started asking questions. “No” she said simply. “Probably the only one in this place who hasn’t” she said out loud. Though it was only audible enough to be heard. ‘At least not yet’ it was only a matter of time in her opinion. Everyone did something in some way to overprotect her, so why not her partner? How much could she really trust him? Sharon glanced up towards her dad’s office. This was stupid, and she didn’t understand how Erin dealt with being right in the guy’s line of sight. Sure a worried dad was one thing but an overprotective unit sergeant who was now your boss and your dad was another. “I’m sorry… just… bad day” Sharon was the worst at poker faces so it was easy to tell she wasn’t lying. Though Sharon didn’t like to talk about things. Her accent sounded very not so native to Chicago. In fact she sounded more like a foreigner who had lived in New York. One of those accents that could not be mimicking if someone tried. Her dad treated her like she was going to break most days and she hated that more than anything. The more she started trusting the more rebellious of that outlook she became. In all fairness, she had just gotten back from a week of hell on top of everything else. She’d been practically abandoned in the park by her old partner, and then drugged and kidnapped. “It’s not you, and bad day is the understatement of the week.” She didn’t really want to explain anything about her old partner that might make Braden fear for his life, but she wasn’t exactly easy to partner. Not many people could handle Voight when someone endangered Sharon. It was like lighting a match and throwing it into jet fuel. Bad idea. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Perhaps someone else might have lost their cool, faced with a potential partner that wasn't happy to be there. That had decided to lash out. That person wasn't Braden. If slamming her desk drawer and grumbling in whatever foreign language that had been helped Sharon to deal with things, who was he to deny her that?
Braden listened patiently as she spoke. She couldn't stop offering variations of 'I'm sorry' to him. Something about a bad day and that being an understatement. Her face certainly seemed to confirm that story. It was probably for the best if she never played poker. She'd lose. Badly. "Hey. No need to apologize to me. We all have 'em, right?"
He got up from behind his desk and walked over to hers, offering his hand. At least they could try starting over. "We haven't formally been introduced. The name's Braden." Not the most common first name, but certainly distinctive. It never ceased to amaze him how many people were interested in the how and why of them. Probably best just to save some time and get it out of the way. "Long story, but short version? My family is Irish Catholic."
Like anyone else, Braden had something of a mischievous side, though not as pronounced as some. A sly smile slid across his face. "If it helps, though, I could still run out and get that desk warming gift. A dart board, maybe? If there's someone you don't like, we could get their face plastered on it as the background."

Sharon had many people tell her not to ever play poker. Even if he had said it outloud, she would have probably laughed about it. Though she shook her head when she said she didn’t need to apologize. “Still. I shouldn’t take it out on you. That’s not fair you” she replied as she set her pen in the cup on her desk. It had taken a while but Sharon was slowly beginning to be more trusting of men, at least the ones who had a police badge to show for it. She shook his hand briefly but politely. “Sharon” she replied giving him a name to put with the face. “And the rumours about me are true I am Voight’s daughter.” There was a slight eye roll. Sharon laughed at his comment about the dart board. “Not really my style Braden. I’m more of shoot the boyfriend before I date em type.” Well there was truth in it. Sharon didn’t always ask questions before she started firing bullets, but honestly she didn’t fire her weapon that much in the grand scheme of things. Sharon was just… unique. Braden just laughed. Sharon was concerned about having taken her frustrations out on him, but it was like water off of a duck's back. Being a parent could be a challenge, but it was a worthwhile one, and laughter turned to pride, as he told his partner he was a new father. "I have a daughter, Savannah, now. You... don't really phase me. In fact, you can throw whatever you want my way. Won't make me flinch." When Sharon told him she was the shoot the boyfriend before she dated them type, his smile disappeared... briefly. "Good to know." Well... maybe not good to know, but at least he knew his partner had a penchant for discharging her weapon. Or, that's what it sounded like. It was a very Voight thing to do. Some things just ran in that family, he mused. He was probably going to regret actually knowing the answer to this, but he asked it just the same. "Wait. Did you actually do that?"
Sharon's earlier eye roll hadn't gone unnoticed as when she had confirmed she was Hank's daughter, but their introductions to each other were just the beginning. "Have you had a chance to read your email yet? You know they have us scheduled to do, and I quote, 'positive team-building exercises together,' right?"

Sharon shook her head, she could not relate to children in anyway. The closest thing she had was her dog. Most people just thought that her pomeranian was annoying. She smiled though when he talked sweetly about his daughter. It told her a lot about him, more than he realized he was sharing. “I just have a dog, she’s a white pomeranian and makes a wiggly friendly pillow” she explained. Okay so Thomas was a better pillow but that was aside from the point. “Gun accident. We are past that now” Well gun accident was putting it mildly. More Thomas scared her when she had a gun in her hand, and she had felt threatened. Then there was something about a boat blowing up and other classified things. It was much easier to explain to people it had been a gun accident. Email? She was as bad as her dad when it came to reading that. “Not yet…” she trailed off and then shot him a ‘you must be joking expression’ on her face when he started quoting the email. Fishing through her drawer she grabbed her mouse out of the drawer and connected it. Why did they insist on doing this? She gave up and started looking from her phone. Computers weren’t her thing, she would get mouse to play with it later. "I think we should hit the locker rooms. Did you see what they have for the dress code?" It was definitely not professional dress that was listed there. "Side note: Please bring extra towels, we will be getting muddy" She raised a brow oh this day was turning into her worst nightmare. Braden couldn't keep the smile off of his face when Sharon began to explain that she had no children of own but she had a friendly, albeit wiggly pillow in the form of her dog. Despite the fact Sharon claimed she 'just had a dog,' her affection for the Pomeranian couldn't be more clear when she spoke of her. Perhaps it was a little strange to be having this conversation; things had taken a drastic turn after their initial run-in. Braden had a picture of his family on his desk, but for ease of access, he reached for his cell phone instead. He opened the photo gallery and selected one of the most recent before handing the phone to Sharon. "That's Rachel with our daughter—Savannah," Braden told her. His two favorite girls, as he called them.
Sharon's story kept getting more interesting with each new tidbit that surfaced. "Some accident," Braden quipped. He didn't necessarily want details about the incident, but he'd rest easier knowing that really was just a pre-dating boyfriend phase for her. Looking over his shoulder to see what Sharon was up to didn't appeal to him. He didn't need bullets from his partner's gun taking up residence. "I'm glad Rachel didn't feel the need to shoot me right before we started dating," Braden teased. She was a cop, so she certainly had the necessary equipment.
Wait. What? Braden peered over Sharon's shoulder as she quoted another part of the email. Sure enough, there was a post script addendum that he'd missed. "You think we should go to the locker rooms?" Considering her 'you must be kidding me look,' that wasn't the response he'd been expecting. "Huh. I was actually going to suggest we play hooky." Sharon "Cher" Voight

After a long conversation of the ten million reasons why it was a bad idea to play hooky from the whole partner thing, there was the whole going to this “partner training” class. The list included the fact they hardly knew each other, Sharon not really trusting men easily, and something along the lines of not getting in trouble with Hank. That was only to name a few of them. So after changing and making their way to the meeting place outside Sharon leaned against the fence. “Your wife, she’s a great cop” Sharon mentioned as she was looking for something to talk about. Yes, Sharon knew Rachel and she remembered that day quite well. “I never had the chance to thank her though, for helping me get my dad out alive.” The truth of it was Sharon had been stupid that day, risking her life and not waiting for backup. Honestly, she wouldn’t be surprised if Rachel held it against her. The least she could do was have Braden talk to her for her. Sharon didn’t like anyone to play telephone but she owed Rachel and she knew it. Sharon always made good on her debts. Since the two were related, Braden also deserved the truth. The woman wasn’t one to keep that from people. Not that she could lie if she wanted to, she had always been a terrible liar. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

i'd say show me but that would come out all kinds of wrong. i have to say they didn't exactly partner me with a male too hard on the eyes Michael and Rachel had a bet going, he said they could get out of this stupid excuse of a partner strengthening exercise. He’d lost, so he owed Rachel a piggy back. He bent over so she could jump up on his back. They were still mid conversation with their usual banter between trying to convince each other that blondes were better than brunettes. Though this time they were discussing Captain America. “Captain America is like the perfect specimen of what a hot superhero should look like Murphy.” Okay so maybe that was pushing it a little far, I mean to him superman was a lot hotter. “I mean come on Matt Bomer dying his hair blonde and taking on Captain America would have been perfectly acceptable” Though he was totally more interested in Chris Evans than Matt Bomer anyway. Still his point remained, somewhat. Actually at this point his whole entire logic was starting to blur together. This was probably because he was on a double shift. When they got to where some of the others were he dropped her on the ground. “Now we are even” he stated as he ruffled her hair. “Now how about seasoned partners showing these newly paired ones how this really works?” He replied as he turned around and then saw Sharon on the back wall. “Rambo nine o’clock” he stated with a smirk on his face. Yes, the name Rambo had stuck despite all his protests that it wouldn’t. What could he say, his partner had the best ideas. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Rachel chuckled when he lost their bet, honestly she expected him to wriggle out of it somehow but then a piggy back was partner training, she was right and he had lost a best. What more could the PD want from them she thought as she jumped on his back and wrapped her arms around him as she rested her chin on his shoulder. Their usual conversations if caught at the wrong time could be, well yes she didnt want to think what anyone else would think of their usual conversations.
This one was the blondes versus brunettes conversation and there was no way she was letting her partner believe that blondes were better. “Captain America is perfect in many ways, one thing I’d change is his hair... more believable if he’s a brunette. The Captain is more like watching legally blonde and just hoping for sense.” She stated firmly, so yes she could stare at Captain America all day and have no issue with that at all the only thing she would prefer to make him the perfect specimen would be brunette. “You really think a blonde Matt Bomer? Nooo, you can’t ruin him with blonde hair dye, he is perfect just the way he is.” She said with a sigh before she chuckled.
One day she would get him to see the error in his ways she thought as dropped her on the ground and she nodded. “Even for now.” She reminded him grinning as she tried to bat his hand away when he ruffled her hair. “Oh let’s do this, two brunettes versus these lot. We’ll get a gold star in this class.” She said confidently before her face fell for a moment glancing toward Sharon before she smirked along with her partner.
“Rambo had better have checked her gun at the door or we’re about to be in serious trouble.” She teased nudging Michael lightly as she wasn’t sure if she should have or shove her partner to take cover and hope for the best. “Remember, duck and run, duck and run partner.” She joked though she still remembered that call with the Voight’s, Sharon was lucky to be there given the stunt she had pulled.

Braden sat with his back against the fence, as he skipped pebbles along the ground, mostly just to pass the time. The two new partners waited near to where the activities were to begin and Sharon brought up Rachel much to his surprise, saying what a good cop she was. "She is," Braden agreed. He could have been reading into things too much, but it almost felt like Sharon was holding something back. If she didn't want to share the details, he wouldn't pressure her into doing so, but curiosity compelled him to ask. "I wasn't aware the two of you knew each other. How did you end up working that case together?"Obviously, whatever had happened during the course of the investigation, things had turned out for the best. She and Rachel had rescued Hank... and things had gone back to normal. Or what passed for normal around here. It was hard to tell some days, as evidenced by Rachel being carried piggyback style by her work partner—and then let off nearby. Braden stifled a laugh with the back of his hand, as he looked Michael over with a discerning eye. "So he's the partner, huh?" he mentioned as a quiet aside to Sharon. Michael had totally lost a bet with her. "Rachel!" He called out to his wife, getting her attention and waving here over towards where he and Sharon were waiting. "Over here!" The two were still at work. A certain amount of professionalism was still expected, but Braden couldn't help but sport a large grin. He didn't often get the opportunity to work alongside Rachel—if one considered team-building exercises with their respective partners to be working with each other. Sharon shrugged, “She was in the area when I did something unbelievably stupid to get my dad out” she pointed out. Suddenly wishing she hadn’t said anything. Sharon was okay until Braden waved the other two partners over towards them. She turned her attention to the person blabbering. "So he's the partner, huh?" Sharon just gave her own partner a look. Really he'd never met the guy? “You are going to maintain eye contact with your partner before they blindfold you. Then you are going to let your partner harness you up. You are going to be hoisted to the top of the rappel tower by your partner. You are then going to rappel down the tower down to a stool. You are not allowed to unblindfold yourself or your partner once they get to the bottom. Then you are going to trust fall back and your partner is going to catch you. Once you have righted yourself. Your partner is going to weave you through the obstacles to the end.” he pointed out. Sharon felt like just walking away from this. Glancing inside, she appeared really uneasy. One she didn’t know Braden and two she wasn’t really at ease anywhere near Michael and Rachel. She knew where she stood with them and it was nowhere good. This was a bad idea. This was a really bad idea. Sharon just walked as far away from the group as she could manage without being called out by anyone. Again she glanced back inside. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Rachel was the only ‘sister’ he had that lived anywhere near him. She actually reminded him a lot of Roxanne, his older feisty sister. Well older being the operative word as Michael was the middle of a set of triplets. “No. You can’t make him a brunette. You’d totally kill his sex appeal.” He argued as he dropped her down with the others. “Please a blonde Bomer would be like golden” he said in the most cheesy way he could manage as he poked her lightly in the side. Hearing Rachel say they would get a gold star made him chuckle. Though he noticed Sharon pulling away from the group. He didn’t say anything but she looked like she was about to run. Deep down he knew if it had been Rachel in trouble he’d have done exactly what Sharon did. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

Michael was like family to her, the annoying kind like her brother but family none the less. You didnt get to be partners without a bond forming despite the fact he had awful taste in hair colour. “What sex appeal if he’s blonde? I mean seriously what you see in blondes is just... I have no idea. Maybe it was your head that took the hit and not your ankle?” She suggested with a grin until she simply gave him a look for even suggested a blonde Bomer. He had hit his head and that was what had him all out of whack with things.
Blondes were great she had nothing against them but brunettes were more her thing. Rachel squirmed as he poked her in the side. “You keep your own weird Bomer fantasies to yourself, he’s good as he is.” She said with a grin as she saw Sharon move away from the group just far enough to be away but close enough not to be called out. Honestly now Rambo was going to be all shy about things as Rachel waved to Braden happy to actually see her husband in work time. It wasn’t like she could just hang around the precinct all day even if she wanted to.
Rachel looked to Michael as she poked him in the side lightly, “Move it, move it, move it Fed.” She almost sang as she made her way over to Braden and in turn Sharon who she simply smiled at. Well professionalism had to win out she thought as she held out her hand. “Nice to meet you Detective Murphy.” She said trying to keep a straight face as she glanced toward Michael, “I’d like you to meet my partner Michael Meriton, he thinks he can fly.” She joked however she was still trying work out if he did or didn’t as she looked over to Sharon.
“Good to see you again Sharon.” She said trying to be nice and not go all protective wife on her to make sure she didn’t pull any other crazy stunts when her husband was with her. Not that she didn’t trust Braden as she did with her life but Rachel had seen what Sharon did when the woman didn’t think something through properly.
